Halloween 3D Director Named

patrick_lussier

After the mess that was Halloween 2 (2009) the Weinstein company is distancing itself from Rob Zombie and going with Patrick Lussier. It makes a lot of sense with him being the one that brought us My Bloody Valentine 3D earlier this year. While it wasn’t a great movie it’s 3D was pretty effective and it was a passable horror movie. Especially for a remake. So this gives me some hope for the Halloween series after having all those doubts from Halloween 2.

Not sure I like the gimmick that is 3D invading one of my favorite series of all time. But if it brings it back to life after the last outing I’m all for it. At least we know that the franchise can’t get much worse. I hope this movie returns Michael Myers back to the killing machine that he is and not the emo bastard he’s become. Sure the killing was fine in Robs movie but they need to drop the mommy and white horse stuff. Michael works better when he is just the Shape. No caring just a killing machine.

Halloween 3D

Halloween 3D is the Weinstein Co. answer to all the flack Halloween 2 is getting. It’s already in development and without Rob Zombie behind the directors chair this time. With such a quick announcement it makes you wonder how long ago the Weinstein Co. realized that there were major issues with Halloween 2. It gives me hope for the franchise that I love after Rob Zombie ripped it’s heart out. I hope they don’t try and give Michael Myers  another Origin Story. I want them to just jump in and forget the last 10 minutes of Halloween 2. If they did that and had Michael escaping to kill the next Halloween i’m sure they will be fine.

We just need Michael Myers getting back to the basics without the white horse and ghost mother bullshit. Bring the series back to the basics and it will do great. I look forward to seeing where this series will head next and I hope that the 3D is well done and not overly gimmicky which is so easy to do with Horror movies.
